The opportunity

We’re looking for a Digital Marketing Specialist, App Store Optimization to join our Digital Marketing team. Help us grow the user base for a variety of CBC apps, which includes some of Canada’s best known and most loved apps like CBC News, CBC Gem, CBC Sports, and CBC Listen.

Through A/B Testing, keyword optimization, research, and captivating creative, you will develop and implement a best-in-class app store optimization strategy.

Who you are and where are you now?

You’re a seasoned digital marketer with a focus on search and app marketing who’s ready to increase the visibility, engagement, and use of our apps portfolio. You’re an enthusiastic and determined self-starter who’s motivated to lead our ASO marketing strategy, implement best practices, and improve the user experience for Canadians across the country.

What’s in it for you?

As our Digital Marketing Specialist, App Store Optimization, you will work closely with teams from across CBC, as well as with partners like Google, Amazon and Apple to increase user acquisition.

What you’ll do:

  • Drive continuous improvement. You will develop, execute, and lead ASO marketing plans that will engage our nation-wide audience. You will leverage A/B testing; making optimizations to keywords, product descriptions, screenshots, videos and icons to grow organic app installs.
  • Collaborate. You will work closely with stakeholders from the CBC News, CBC Gem, CBC Sports, and CBC Listen teams, Creative and Marketing to develop assets for app pages and will share best practices for improving app discoverability and conversion. You will collaborate with our partners to ensure the success of CBC apps. You will lead presentations to convey your ideas to internal stakeholders.
  • Evaluate. You will outline key metrics to measure the effectiveness of the marketing strategy and will assess the performance of your efforts on an on-going basis. You will frequently review reports on keyword ranking, marketing outcomes, app reviews, and overall progress; sharing your insights with key stakeholders.

What you bring:

  • The education and experience. You have 3+ years of experience in digital marketing and are well-versed in SEO, search, and apps marketing. You are familiar with Google Play Console and App Store Connect. You are very knowledgeable about app store algorithms and ranking methods. You have a strong understanding of how to leverage A/B testing, creative assets, and keyword optimization to improve app store performance. Bilingualism is an asset. 
  • The relationship-building skills. You are an excellent communicator who practices active listening and empathetic engagement across diverse perspectives. You are a true collaborator who is excellent at gathering everyone’s ideas and distilling them into a dynamic strategy. You have a team-focus approach and understand the concepts of collective responsibility and ownership.
  • The analytical mindset. You take stock of the big picture and map out the best way to achieve your end goal. You are constantly evaluating your methods, making adjustments where needed and innovating whenever possible.
