The opportunity

Reporting to the Senior Director, Digital Products, we have an opening for a Manager, Software Development. This is a true leadership opportunity with a focus on coaching, hiring and developing Software and QA developers on a cross-functional Agile team working on Canada’s best and most exciting digital products. This is the first critical position that will empower our ability to scale. Who you are

You are currently an Agile Team Lead or people manager in technology. You want to move into a role where you can apply your technical knowledge and your mentoring skills to growing a team and setting individuals up for success. How you will make a difference, you will:

  • Help develop a culture of collaboration, learning, and improvement across the CBC’s Digital Products department.
  • Lead a team of Software and QA Developers providing mentorship, coaching direction, formal performance evaluation and access to professional development, all resulting in happy and satisfied team members.
  • Actively grow and promote the team through presentations and participation in job fairs, networking events and digital networking. Participate fully in the end-to-end recruitment and onboarding of new talent.
  • Champion the work of the team and the individuals, removing roadblocks and gaining recognition for achievements. Build strong relationships with and represent the team to our primary stakeholders.
  • Contribute to and execute on the department strategy developed with the Senior Director.
  • Enhancing the CBC's digital activities through ongoing improvement of workflow and adoption of new ways of leading, new technologies, and new software development practices.
  • Support the team through continuous improvement of processes, removing roadblocks and empowering individuals to do their best work in an Agile environment.

  • The education. You have a post-secondary degree in a related field. Bilingualism in French and English and general broadcast knowledge are nice to have skills.

  • The collaborative approach. You thrive in - and can foster - a team-focused environment. You can provide guidance and direction for teams. You know how to listen and you understand perspectives.
